Steroid-responsive Meningitis-Arteriitis

SRMA study.

In the last weeks and months we have received more and more reports of boxers (with papers) at the age of 5-6 months with clearly diagnosed SRMA. And in the meantime we are of the opinion that it cannot go on like this.

For this reason we, Heike Fahrenschon and Dr. Sissi Fuchs-Rothenpieler, have contacted Prof. Tosso Leeb, geneticist at the University of Bern and our genetics laboratory Feragen with Dr. Anja Geretschläger and want to start a study.

According to what we know so far, SRMA is unfortunately not inherited monogenically. However, research projects on complex hereditary traits require a much higher and much higher sample numbers than research projects on monogenic traits. monogenic traits.
Prof. Leeb has now advised us to collect accurate data on the incidence of SRMA in boxers. It is ideal if blood samples are already in stock from both from clearly diseased as well as healthy boxers (preferably also healthy siblings of siblings of affected boxers) are stored in a bio-database.  Here, Feragen is at our side with its expertise.
In order to be able to initiate this study at all, we need your
support.

For this purpose we need the following from clearly SRMA affected boxers with pedigrees from the Boxer Club Munich (BK), International Boxer Club (IBC) or also FCI pedigrees from foreign associations
- 1 x 5ml EDTA blood
- Medical report with documented diagnosis of CSF examination and MRT
- Copy of the pedigree
- Declaration of consent for release of blood and data
- Data protection, copy of doctor's report, copy of pedigree please send to:
Heike Fahrenschon, Mittelstr. 20, 89269 Vöhringen, Germany
or boxer-genetics-heike.fahrenschon@email.de

Of course we also need healthy boxers with pedigrees from the Boxer Club Munich (BK), International Boxer Club (IBC) or FCI pedigrees from foreign associations
- 1 x 5ml EDTA blood
- Copy of the pedigree
- Declaration of consent for release of blood and data
